The Ngūgī wa Thiong'o Cultural and Arts Center
The Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o Cultural and Arts Center (NwTCAC) seeks to honor and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o and his family to literature, culture, and social activism in Kenya and beyond. Located in Gitogothi, Limuru, the Center will serve as an artistic and intellectual hub, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience.
The NwTCAC’s mission is to preserve, promote, and educate the public about the literary legacy and social impact of Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o and his family. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement, the Center will inspire young people to make meaningful contributions to society through the arts and intercultural exchange, both locally and globally.
The NwTCAC is envisioned as a space that empowers and promotes African languages, inspires future generations to explore and express their creativity in their mother tongues, and fosters international cultural and educational exchange. It will play a central role in shaping conversations around African languages, African literature, and social activism for generations to come.
